Rooms

Sixty-four of them, four types, one old school

No two rooms here are exactly the same size, because the classrooms weren't built to a hotel's plan and we didn't try to force them. The fit-out is the same throughout: oak floor, linen, blackout blinds that really do black out, a kettle, a shower with a decent head, and a window that opens as wide as you like.

Every room has a desk, since the windows are good and people tend to end up working in front of them. Cots are free. Dogs can stay in the courtyard-side rooms only, which keeps things peaceful for everyone else.

All rooms include

  • Breakfast in De Kantine, 07:00–10:30
  • A hotel bike from the shed, first come first served
  • Gymzaal Spa, sauna and pool
  • Wired and wireless internet

Check-in from 15:00, check-out by 11:00. Reception is staffed all night.

Practical things

The answers reception gives most often

Accessibility. The lift reaches the ground, first and second floors. Two Binnenplaats Queens on the ground floor are step-free from the street entrance and have roll-in showers. The attic rooms are not reachable by lift.

Noise. Zandkuilstraat is a residential street with a bus two streets over. The street-side rooms have secondary glazing, and the courtyard rooms hardly need it.

Parking. Eight spaces in the old caretaker's yard, booked at reception. The street outside is paid parking until 21:00, and the park-and-ride at the edge of Groningen has a bus every ten minutes.

Bikes. There are sixty in the shed, free to use, each with lights and a lock. Reception signs them out and doesn't ask for a deposit.
